Netherlands FA Team Doctor Assesses Frenkie De Jong Fit for Euro 2024
According to reports from "Mundo Deportivo," the Netherlands Football Association's medical team has assessed that the injured Frankie de Jong can make it to Euro 2024.
In last weekend's national derby, De Jong left the field injured at halftime, with a diagnosis revealing damage to his right ankle. While Barcelona officials have not disclosed De Jong's return timeline, multiple media outlets report that he will be unable to play for Barcelona for the remainder of the season.
Edwin Goudhaart, the Dutch FA's doctor, stated, "At the moment, we have no reason to believe that De Jong won't be able to participate in the European Championship." De Jong has suffered three injuries so far this season. He has made 30 appearances for Barcelona this season, accumulating 2513 minutes on the field and scoring 2 goals.
De Jong is a key player for the Dutch national team, having made 54 appearances for the Oranje, scoring 2 goals. The Netherlands' Euro 2024 campaign kicks off on June 16 against Poland, followed by matches against France and Austria on June 21 and 25, respectively.
